Profile

Dr Hai Bui is an upper gastrointestinal surgeon for Western Health who has dedicated much of his life and career to improving the lives of people in the West, and all across Victoria. He arrived in Australia as a 19-year-old refugee from Vietnam and completed his high school studies as the dux of Maribyrnong High School whilst learning English. He attended the University of Melbourne medical school from 1991 to 1996 and attained his fellowship at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2006.

Dr Bui is commended by his colleagues for the enthusiasm and innovation he brings to the role but more importantly, his commitment to help ease the lives of the patients before him.

Mr Bui is a proud father of five children and when he is not involved with surgery he enjoys spending time with their sporting commitments, cycling with friends or out in the countryside bushwalking or skiing.
